Another quick surf session at Beach Bowls.  The sets tended to come frequently and provide a few decent rides, both rights and lefts.  But when the high tide came in the sets got mushed out a bit.  If you are planning to go out tonight though, should be good if the wind stays down. I [...]

After work yesterday, I packed up my bike and headed down to Beach Bowls for a sunset surf session.  Jack Lordy that water was deliciously warm.  The thermometer on my watch read 76ºF!  My brain was telling me that couldn’t be right, and it could have been taking some heat off my wrist, but it [...]

The swell is still picking up for sure.  Not only were the waves a bit bigger today, but they were stronger too.  Also the rip from the south, famous in Huntington, is back causing some more texture in the water. The first wave I went for jacked up pretty steep.  I should have pulled out, [...]

Still, it was an excellent [...]

The surf report didn’t inspire much hope this morning.  And being there on the beach didn’t make the desire to get out and stronger.  In fact, I saw quite a few surfers just turn away.  But, a) I had my spiffy new Harbour Electric with me (though not the board for the day at all) [...]

The most terrifying thing about today’s surf session was the beach break. I’d catch these clunkers way on the outside. Then I’d fight them all the way waiting for the wave to form. And once the wave did form it was suddenly a 5 foot face ready to break right on the beach into a [...]

It is like a good soap opera out there. The swell continues to build from yesterday. Today the waves were 2-4s with the occasional head-high wave. I tried waiting for mid-tide today, but that didn’t seem to help much. Most waves were sectiony close-outs. All I really got out of today’s sesh were some fun [...]

According to Surfline.com, there is a big event brewing over the next few days.  We should be seeing some serious surf in the coming week, possibly on the order or 6-7 feet.  Whenever something big rolls through, I like to be sure to get out regularly several days before hand, just to make sure I’m [...]
